THE TRIP
Our Team at High Point Market
In spring 2017 our team flew to North Carolina for High Point Market, the home furnishings trade show where the major names in the interior design and furniture industry show their new collections. The people who shape what ends up in showrooms, and in homes, are all there.
This year we had the pleasure of meeting Christopher Guy, a renowned furniture designer whose work has been an influence on ours.
When we are not on site, in meetings or brainstorming design ideas for clients, we are on the hunt for hand-picked furnishings to add to our inventory. High Point was a charming place to continue that hunt and to see the new trends surfacing in the market.
If you follow our projects you know our timeless luxury style: clean lines, sophisticated grandeur and close attention to detail. We also keep updating our ideas to stay with the current trends. Here are the three that stood out this season.
TREND 1
Sophisticated Grandeur
Lavish metals and luxurious fabrics are taking over. Sleek metal used as both a decorative and a functional piece is an effective way to create interiors that feel comfortable and luxurious at the same time. We saw it throughout the Bernhardt showroom, and we have used lavish metals in our own projects, as in the living room pictured here.
Luxurious fabrics are back as well: upholstery covered in lush textiles and soft-hand velvets. They are no longer reserved for traditional homes and are turning up in sleek contemporary interiors too.
Design tip: pair luxurious fabrics with a neutral palette to bring rich tones into your interior without overpowering it. That is how we did it in the condominium and contemporary projects below.

TREND 2
Circular Silhouettes and Edgy Contemporary
Contemporary design is made of playful forms, clean lines and geometrically cut shapes that make a room look sharp and stylish. Furnishings with geometric forms guide your eye through the space and can act as a quiet backdrop or as an eye-catching accent piece.
Bold circular silhouettes won us over this year, and none more than Christopher Guy's grand circular sofa. It sat right in the centre of the showroom living room as a stylish centrepiece with a practical purpose.

TREND 3
High Craftsmanship and Sculptural Lighting
Sculptural, finely crafted lighting has made its mark on interior design. Lighting leaves a lasting impression and matters most in the areas of the home you use every day.
Inside the Dorya showroom at High Point we were impressed by light stands and chandeliers made entirely by hand, alongside a selection of their other pieces. Fine craftsmanship and luxurious materials are what give them their sense of luxury.
